Truss was elected as prime minister of the UK by an absurd process involving an infinitesimal fraction of the electorate. She now assumes that she can deal with the vast energy prices demanded by the energy companies by simply taking money from the British public , and handing that money over the those companies.

We don't believe that Truss has any mandate whatsoever to take and use our tax in this way - so we will now raise funds to establish the exact position. Our hope is that everyone in the UK who pays for their energy will give our campaign just £1 so that we can commission and pay for the necessary research. If , as we suspect, it turns out that Truss is acting unlawfully, we will then ask for your further support to obtain a legal opinion on how Truss can be stopped, and indeed whether she can be privately prosecuted, and also how much such a private prosecution will cost the British people.
