Our fridge was the first of its kind to open in Plymouth and provides our community with access to food  that would otherwise go to waste. Residents, primarily those in need but not exclusively, can collect food such as pastries, bread, fruit, spices and vegetables for free. 

The Kintsugi Project CIC is about building a better community that includes everyone. Our space at Leadworks offers an open, accessible, safe space in the heart of Stonehouse.

Its more than just a fridge, it's a community of people all coming together to help each other through the good and bad times, a place to make connections and to belong to something special. 

Our community fridge is a joint venture between Leadworks Project CIC & The Kintsugi Project.  We are also a designated Warm Space, providing people a safe and inclusive place to stay warm, meet new people, grab a cuppa and a bite to eat. 

Our team of volunteers pick up food and take in deliveries on a daily basis to help keep the fridge and shelves stocked with good quality and nutritious food. 

The community fridge is widely used by a number of our local residents. We regularly have over 200 visitors a week, a large number who are experiencing food and Energy insecurity due to the Cost of Living Crisis. 

In our first year we saved over 12 tons of surplus food from going to landfill and into the bellies of those in need. 

People living in food poverty were hardest hit by the pandemic and they’re now being disproportionately affected by the cost of living crisis.

This Crowdfunder hopes to raise the much needed funds to to help maintain the fridge , help towards keeping our warm space warm and welcoming,  having a volunteer coordinator,  volunteer expenses for our team of pick up drivers, and to continue to be able to offer Emergency food vouchers and energy vouchers to those in our community who are struggling the most.
