Aim
We are opening a community hub in Barnsley, not only supporting single parents but the WHOLE Barnsley community.
Help Us Build a Heart for Barnsley: The SPSAS Community Hub
Imagine a place where every Barnsley resident feels safe, supported, and connected – you can help us build it!
Success looks like a bustling, vibrant hub where children play, adults learn new skills, friendships blossom, and no one feels alone. It's a cornerstone of community life, fostering well-being and opportunity for all in Barnsley!
We have been donated a building via the ASTOP project, so there is no costs involved for us. We have decided that as we already have a charity shop in Barnsley town centre this is going to be a community hub, a one stop shop for everyone's needs as we know the cost of living is affecting EVERYONE!
We are aiming to run:
- Food Bank / Community Fridge
- Pet Bank
- Uniform Bank
- Meetings
- Groups
- Help the homeless - wash their clothes once a month, Make Soup etc
- Baby Bank - Loan Baby Items Out
- Donation Centre
- Run Projects - Example Christmas Project ( sorting gifts for children)
These are the ideas we have at the moment ( and have previously run before) but we are not limited to these and may expand even more!
The building is empty at the moment so we need funds to get things like fridge's and freezers as we have one of each so far to take in, to buy some stock ( in bulk from suppliers like InKind Direct) we will collect surplus food from supermarkets.
We will need shelving, table and chairs etc all we are happy to buy second hand or get off freecycle etc
This is going to be a vital service to the users of Barnsley and be vital to combat loneliness and isolation as people can drop in and just have a coffee and chat if needed, we can refer to other organisation's and support services.
