Sprowston Girl Guides Camping in nature

Aim

To encourage our Girl Guide group to love the outdoors and love nature.

We want our Girl Guides to enjoy spending time outside and learn about the nature around them.  Whether that is recognising birds, trees, detecting bats or spending time by the river.  This year on camp we made bird boxes, learnt about different species of trees and searched for different species of bats while on camp.  Many girls said their favourite activity was detecting different species of bats.  Next we plan to make insect houses, and one day if we can raise enough money we would love to build hedgehog houses and teach the girls about this species of mammal which is impacted year on year becoming more and more vulnerable as a species.  By building their own house they will bring this back to their garden in Sprowston helping the species in the local area.  We would like to purchase further camping equipment including bat detectors, and equipment which is old and damaged.
