Local kids risk exclusion from Cliftonville’s ‘26 £1M skate park - let’s get 100+ skateboards & safety gear - enabling access & inclusion!
Cliftonville, in Margate, Kent, is ranked in the top 10 most impoverished neighbourhoods in the UK - to encourage & facilitate access to the forthcoming £1.3M skate park, being built literally right on the doorsteps of children & young people who’d otherwise risk exclusion from this fantastic new sports facility, without proactive engagement, let’s fund a free skateboard & all necessary safety equipment for 100 children a year, every year!
This community youth project involves children assembling their own skateboard at the skate park & receiving free skateboarding tuition - without such a scheme, it’s highly unlikely local children & young people would engage in an unknown sports activity at a state-of-the-art skate facility, built on Cliftonville’s coast road!
Local Margate skate store Skate Pharm is prepared to provide the skate gear, keeping investment in the community - their owner proposed & won the bid to fund the skatepark.
Local youth have virtually no youth services & no after school activities - this program aims to provide all the incentive necessary to maximise local youth involvement in a healthy, social sport, in an area which currently offers negligible community participation opportunities for those disenfranchised families living well below the poverty line in notoriously substandard accommodation, in a formally acknowledged severely poverty stricken neighbourhood.
