Build a vibrant, safe indoor skate space in Edinburgh where locals can connect, progress, and spark community events together.
Hi! We're Shredinburgh CIC. We formed because there is a serious lack of indoor skate spaces in Edinburgh which is impacting Edinburgh's skate scene. To raise money to create a space, we'll be collectively rolling the distance from Edinburgh to Glasgow, to highlight the distance that Edinburgers need to travel to get to an indoor facility. This is approximately 50 miles away. We desperately need to provide Edinburgh locals with a space to skate, meet, do yoga, play music, connect with their community and have fun. Winter is coming! Every penny puts us one step closer to creating that safe, sheltered and permanent space Shredinburgers are craving!

We are an Edinburgh based initiative made up of skateboarders, skate coaches, yoga and fitness instructors, united by a shared goal of enriching the city through accessible, inclusive skate spaces. Our vision is to create more opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in activities such as skateboarding, inline skating, scootering, BMX, yoga, music, and the creative arts.
Despite Edinburgh’s vibrant and growing skate and creative communities, the city currently lacks dedicated indoor skate facilities. This limits access, particularly during Scotland’s long winters and periods of poor weather, and creates a significant barrier to consistent participation, skill development, and community wellbeing. We aim to address this gap by developing a year round indoor space that supports not only wheeled sports but also wellbeing, creativity, and social connection.
Our collective experience spans sport and skatepark environments, fitness coaching, education, community led projects and the creative arts. Through this work, we have developed a deep understanding of the vital role that movement, creativity, and shared spaces play in fostering healthy, connected communities. This insight drives our commitment to creating a welcoming, multi-use environment that supports both physical activity and creative expression.
Scotland’s skaters face big challenges. Unpredictable weather and a lack of indoor spaces. This makes it hard to practice safely and stay active year-round. We want to change that.
Our goal is to create skateable spaces in Edinburgh, beginning with a skate café. Not only will this be a sporting facility but it will also be a safe, inclusive space where all ages, identities and abilities can be active, meet, work, learn and most importantly, have fun. We would dedicate the space to helping communities grow and connect with one another. By creating a space providing coaching and classes from experienced skate instructors, we will give local skateboarders a training ground for competing and even developing into successful professional athletes. The skate cafe will also serve as a community hub for everyone, hosting events, yoga classes, music rehearsals, performances and lessons as well a variety of creative activities.
This space will encourage healthy, active lifestyles, foster creativity and bring the community closer together. Every donation brings us one step closer to giving Edinburgh a safe, versatile space where everyone can learn, create, and thrive, rain or shine.
To keep costs achievable, we are taking a smart phased approach:
Repurposing an existing warehouse or industrial space to save on construction costs.
Estimated costs and funding goal:
Start up costs include venue acquisition and renovation, park build and equipment. Our initial target fundraising goal is £10,000 which would get the project off the ground and rolling!
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
*Donate £20 or more and you get a shiny Shredinburgh sticker!
*Donate £50 or more and get a Shredinburgh sticker and T-shirt!
*Donate £80 or more and you get a Shredinburgh sticker, T-shirt AND a skate lesson!
(You will receive your gift on the basis of us hitting our target so spread the word! Please ensure to enter your email address so we can get in contact regarding your goodies.)
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters or you could donate equipment we could use e.g helmets and protective gear, spare boards/scooters/inlines/BMX bikes, ramps and skate equipment. We will give you a massive shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – get involved with our sponsored skate or create your own sponsored activity – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know.
5. Join the Push 👊
