It’s going to cost about £10,000 to run the pool this year (we’ve already got some extra repair bills alas) so any money raised above the £5,000 will ensure we have a good contingency for those unexpected repairs. Anything not spent will be rolled forward for next year - when we hope to find more funding to open the pool, free for all, again. Thanks for your support.
Following 50% cuts to parks budgets in 2016, Lambeth Council stopped funding Streatham Common's very popular Paddling Pool which would have closed without funding from The John Horseman Trust and your support. Since then we've raised a further £15,000 locally so the Streatham Common Co-operative (SCCoop) could manage the Paddling Pool and open it as usual.
Last year SCCoop were unfortunately unable to open the pool, with all the uncertainty, but this year is different, and we think it's really important to keep this local facility open and free for all.
When we surveyed the local community, 90% said they felt it was important that the paddling pool stays open, with £1,000's of pledges and dozens of offers of volunteers to help with the project.
We run a crowdfunding campaign every other year, and to fund and open the pool for summer 2021 we need you to help us reach our target of £5000. If we raise this then we can open the pool again this year, free for all!
