Please donate this to help feed a little orphaned baby elephant that was rescued from a Nigerian oil palm plantation last month.
I run a charity in Nigeria called Africa Nature Investors (ANI)Foundation and we protect Okomu National Park in Edo State. On the 30th of November, we got a call from the neighbouring oil palm plantation about a little baby African forest elephant they found wandering about all alone. We immediately went to collect the little elephant and have been caring for him at our ranger outpost headquarters in the middle of the park. We searched for the mother elephant for 5 days but were unable to find her. we suspect she encountered a hunter in the forest and was separated from her baby.
The little elephant needs 24 hours care and must be fed with special milk made from specialist milk formula, coconut oil and oats. Baby elephants suffer immense trauma when separated from their mother and can refuse to feed even if they are hungry! And so we have two carers who are constantly with the baby elephant and even sleep with him at night.
We didn't plan to look after a baby elephant and we are finding that looking after this little one will be incredibly expensive! They can consume 60kg of milk power a month. Please donate to help us feed this little elephant.
African forest elephants are critically endangered and every individual counts including this little baby boy elephant.
