What is our story?
Founded 14 years ago by our dedicated director, Safebreaks was created to address a critical gap in support services for young people with additional needs transitioning into adulthood. Having worked in children's services for 33 years, our director saw first hand the challenges these young adults face when they turn 18 and suddenly lose access to the clubs, activities, and social connections that were vital to their well-being. In response to the pleas of parents and carers, we have grown to become more than just a care provider, we are a family. Many of our team members have supported the same individuals for over 20 years, fostering deep, trusting relationships.
Our Mission
At Safebreaks, we believe in enabling, not disabling. Our mission is to empower adults with additional needs to access their community, reach their full potential, and lead enriched, fulfilling lives. We collaborate closely with other services to ensure holistic support for our clients, helping them make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and become integral members of the Newton Abbot community.

The Challenge
Despite our successes, the current economic climate has made it difficult to maintain our community services and outreach projects. We urgently need to raise £10,000 to continue providing these vital opportunities for local adults.
How your donations will help us
Your donations will help us to continue facilitating our trips, activities, social clubs and support for individuals when volunteering in the community. These activities are often not financially viable for the individuals but teach valuable social lessons such as travel training and interacting with their local community. We would also like to offer a safe space in the evening for those in our local community to come in and have a warm drink, a friendly conversation and make connections with new friends. The work we do at Safebreaks is vital to the individuals with additional needs and your donations will continue to help us make a difference.
How can you help?
1) Pledge - Any amount you can contribute will make a significant difference.
2) Share - Please spread the word by sharing our campaign far and wide.
Please take a moment to watch our video, where you will hear from staff, service users and our community networks about the impact of Safebreaks. Together we can continue to make a positive difference in the lives of adults with additional needs in our community. Thank you for your support!
