Safe Paws Negril

Safe Paws Negril is striving to raise enough funds to lay the foundations for our charitable veterinary, grooming, and hydrotherapy centre in Negril, Jamaica.

Help us to complete the excavation and lay the foundations for Negril's First Fully Equipped Not-for-Profit Veterinary, grooming, and canine hydrotherapy centre.  For this, we require £35,000.

Negril, Jamaica, is a paradise for many, but for the animals, it can be hell. Every day in Negril, animals suffer because the veterinary care they need is simply not available locally.  Injured dogs often receive no treatment at all, sometimes perishing from injuries or illnesses that could have been addressed with timely veterinary care. Sick cats go without medical attention. Families who love their pets often face long journeys and significant expense just to access basic veterinary services, and so often it just never happens.   Local animal welfare organisations work tirelessly to meet the growing need, but they are stretched beyond capacity and cannot help every animal that needs them.

Despite being one of Jamaica's most visited destinations, Negril currently has no regular veterinary clinic serving the community.  That is why Safe Paws Negril was created.

Our goal is to establish Negril's first fully equipped not-for-profit veterinary clinic and animal welfare centre, providing a permanent resource for animals, pet owners, rescuers, and the wider community.  This vision is no longer just an idea.

The land for the clinic has already been purchased privately.  Excavation work is nearing completion, with an estimated 5 days left when work commences in early November.

The building has been professionally designed by local architects Vision Build. The project has received approval from the National Environmental Planning Agency (NEPA) and l other required regulatory authorities in Jamaica.  Years of planning, preparation, fundraising, and hard work have brought us to this point, but it isn't enough.

Now we need your help to take the next step.

Once completed, the centre will provide:

  • A fully equipped not-for-profit veterinary clinic, grooming, & canine hydrotherapy
  • Free and low-cost spay and neuter clinics
  • Emergency treatment
  • Outreach programmes
  • Pregnancy scans
  • Pet microchipping
  • Facilitate local fostering & adoption programmes
  • Protection for a limited number of pets in environmental weather emergencies

Most importantly, this centre will provide a lasting solution for a community that has gone without adequate and accessible veterinary services for far too long.

Safe Paws Negril is a registered charity in the United Kingdom and is committed to complete financial transparency and accountability. We are also working toward charitable certification in Jamaica.  Every donation received will directly support the construction and development of the clinic and animal welfare centre.

Together, we can create Negril's first fully equipped not-for-profit veterinary clinic and animal welfare centre.  Every donation brings us one step closer to opening the doors.  If you can help in some way, please reach out.
