Full body confidence is our birthright! Here to make Sex Education fun & accessible through performances, workshops and talks for all ages!

Who here thinks Sex Education needs a shake up? Can I get a Hell Yeah!?
Well I do and ever since I can remember I felt that sex education could be better, a lot better. Our sex education for the best part of 50 plus years has been awful, non existent, basic and has left us with many questions and feelings of isolation.
What exactly am I trying to do?
I'm here to change that! Yes! I love talking about sex. Sex is an umbrella word for all the invaluable themes about our bodies, thoughts and feelings and how we relate that rarely ever get covered.

I will be covering: consent, love, intimacy, dating, puberty, vulnerability, womb health, myths and facts around sex, anatomy, menstruation, shame, desire, masturbation, life, death and body positive techniques!
Much of our information is peer-sourced and that isn’t always reliable. It's also deep-rooted in cultural and religious ethos, which I am not denying has merit, however, there are fundamental tools lacking in sex education, such as the meaning of self-love; acceptance, courage, self-respect, wisdom and compassion. So by creating safe creative spaces, which are fun and inclusive to learn in, I can illuminate what is missing in our sex-education today.
How am I going to do it?

I will be offering shows, workshops and talks to start the conversation.
S E X - Lets Talk About It! is a body positive movement that empowers all individuals with inclusive, up-to-date, informative tools and skills to foster healthy relationships with self and others, safer sex, positive approaches around emotional and physical topics that inspire responsibility and well-being.
What impact am I hoping to have?

My mission is to ignite a generation of people who have healthier, kinder and more compassionate relationships to themselves, their bodies and each other.
What makes my project unique?

Performances hold magic that transcends. Working with the audience allows me to challenge their beliefs and guide them safely into new feelings, thoughts, and ideas.
What's your name and where do you come from?

My name is Emma Snellgrove, born in Northern Ireland, then later grew up in Scotland, in a wee town called Auchterarder. My background is in dance, acting, comedy, choreography, teaching and therapy. Over the past four years I have become a researcher in the field of sex. I use my skills and experiences to tackle these subjects that are complex and a lot of fun. Sensitivity, a critical eye and thorougher investigation are key.
When did I start working on my project?

I started back in 2018, but it's been a desire of mine to help do something better for young people and adults in Scotland around Sex Education, since I was a teenager. I've always felt a sense of responsibility to support people through this medium. As a creative I appreciate that our industry also comes with uncertainty and so therefore it's imperative that I establish a movement that has longevity not only for myself but to assure that I can support the needs of young people and adults who are shaping our present and future.
My research has been supported by these organisations since 2018

My project is part of the Creative Scotland Crowdmatch. I am 1 of 20 shortlisted creative projects in Scotland, that have the opportunity to win a share of £80,000 in match funding, up to £10,000 per project.

Money raised is eligible for match funding from creative Scotland Crowdmatch as per the below milestones.

What will the money raised be spent on? Here's a wee breakdown of some costs:

Creating a show and a tour is a pretty costly endeavour. I value my time and all those involved to help bring the project into being. I appreciate that my mission is a big one and while I know it will take time and effort to build I know its worth it for the long term. We are in a time of great divisiveness, negativity is tangible and with all these human challenges comes feelings of isolation, fear, loss and loneliness.
My dream world is where we share a fundamental responsibility in our honour of human dignity, where earth and all things living thrive. I know my project will impact a necessary change.
XXX If after reading this wee blurb you feel my mission is worth supporting because you feel putting a condom on a banana and learning how babies are made is not the be and end all of Sex Education. Then click donate and let's be part of the change together.
