Our much-loved Ryton rugby club needs an urgent full roof repair after years of leaks, before serious damage is done.
We are Ryton RFC and our clubhouse roof is in urgent need of a full repair. We have been battling ongoing leaks for several years, carrying out temporary fixes where possible, but the damage has now reached a point where patch repairs are no longer enough.

The total cost of the full roof repair is £65,000. We have been successful in securing some grant funding to help cover part of this cost, which we are incredibly grateful for. However, there is still a significant shortfall, our goal is to fundraise the remaining £30,000. Sport England have agreed a pledge award of £15,000 if the crowd raise the remaining £15,000.
We need the support of our community to help us raise reach this goal
Without completing the full repair, there is a real risk of further damage to the building, which could affect our ability to operate safely and remain open. Crowdfunding will allow us to bridge the funding gap and protect this vital community facility.

Our clubhouse roof is in urgent need of a full repair. We have been battling ongoing leaks for several years, carrying out temporary fixes where possible, but the damage has now reached a point where patch repairs are no longer enough.
Without a full roof replacement, there is a real risk of further structural damage to the building, which could impact our ability to operate safely and remain open to the community.
As a not-for-profit community sports club, we rely heavily on fundraising and donations to maintain our facilities. This project meets funding criteria as it protects an essential community asset and ensures our facilities remain safe, accessible and usable for everyone who relies on them.

We are committed to being fully transparent about how your support will be used. Funds raised will go directly towards:
Every donation will help secure the future of our clubhouse and prevent further costly damage.

Ryton Rugby Club is more than just a sports club. Our facilities are used by players, families, volunteers and local residents, and the clubhouse provides a valuable social hub for the village, supporting physical activity, mental wellbeing, social connection and volunteering.
We help people of all ages and abilities to get moving and stay active. Our offer includes Rugby Tots, junior and senior contact rugby teams, and an inclusive Walking Rugby team. Walking Rugby brings together a mixed-age group and provides opportunities for retired players, people new to rugby, and those recovering from injury to take part in a welcoming community activity.
We have been working especially hard to improve opportunities for girls’ rugby, building strong links with local schools and delivering girls-only sessions to encourage confidence, participation and long-term involvement in the sport.
Repairing the clubhouse roof will safeguard this shared community space and allow us to continue running all of these activities safely. The improvements will also enable us to install solar panels in the future, helping the club become more sustainable and better able to manage rising energy costs.
Without these essential roof repairs, we would not be able to continue offering many of these activities or secure the long-term future of the club for the community.
