ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS PRESTON AND DISTRICT BRANCH

RCN 232256, Preston

Our branch takes in local cats and dogs who have been rescued from cruelty, neglect, abandonment and abuse. We rehabilitate them and rehome them when they're ready. We also care for animals subject to ongoing cases while their owners are being prosecuted.

Established on 19th December 1963, our charity in Preston are celebrating 60 years of animal welfare work this year in 2023. We are based in the heart of Preston, in Ribbleton, and we aim to help as many animals as we can. We are licensed for 27 dog kennels and 12 cat pods in our cattery, but the extent of our welfare work doesn't end there. We help reunite lost pets with their owners, we answer public queries and we support the work of the National Society.

As an independent branch of the National Society, (there are 140 branches across England and Wales), we rely heavily on public donations to continue our welfare work. We are independently registered charity 23225, and we do all of our fundraising. We have three charity shops in Chorley, Penwortham and Longridge, which help to bring in much needed funds for the animals in our care.

When we take an animal into our care, we are responsible for funding anything and everything that animal will need. This can include, but is not limited to, food, medicine, vet fees, vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, microchipping, toys, treats, enrichment, leads, harnesses, collars, beds, bedding etc.

When you add in heating and bills to keep the animal centre running, as frugal as we are, it means our average monthly running costs are approximately £40,000!

We are a not-for-profit charity and every penny donated to us goes towards the care of the cats and dogs in the kennels, to help us find their forever homes. In 2022, we rehomed 57 dogs and 80 cats.
