Laura Lopez-Bonilla is taking on the Round Jersey Swim to raise money for the reopening of the community swimming pool at The Langton.
The Round Jersey Swim is one of the most iconic and demanding open-water challenges in Europe a full circumnavigation of the island of Jersey, covering approximately 41 miles (66 km) depending on tides. It combines dramatic coastline, fast‑moving waters, and world‑class endurance swimming.
Ms Lopez says: “This swim is more than a physical feat — it’s a test of resilience, strategy, and mental strength. Having completed the swim in 2004, and having been weathered out on three occasions, I know how challenging and variable conditions can be. I will be attempting a second circumnavigation of the island to raise money for the reopening of our community pool at The Langton”. The Spanish teacher and Channel Swimmer Laura Lopez-Bonilla completed a qualification swim of 12 miles between Dungeness and Sangate during the half-term.
