Aim: To develop and refurbish ’Rother’s Neurodivergent Hub’ creating an accessible space for neurodivergent people and families to connect.

🏡 Rother’s Neurodivergent Hub

We’re creating Rother’s Neurodivergent Hub – a safe, inclusive space for neurodivergent people and families in Rother and surrounding areas.

With the lease of the former Bowls Club in Egerton Park now approved by Rother District Council, we’re ready to transform the building into a much-needed community hub. But we need your help to make it happen.

🌳 Who We Are

We’re Space for Yew CIC, a non-profit, neurodivergent-led community organisation working across rural Rother.

Our mission is to prevent isolation and support the wellbeing of neurodivergent families. We are proud to be part of the SEND East Sussex Local Offer. We deliver Family Stay, Play and Learn sessions and coffee mornings across Rother.

The Hub will be our permanent home — a place created with and for the people we support.

🌈 Our Vision

Rother’s Neurodivergent Hub will be a calm, welcoming, neuroaffirming space offering:

  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Tutoring with experienced qualified Teachers from The Old Post Office Wellbeing Hub
  • Creative and play-based groups
  • Nature sessions and Forest School
  • Coffee mornings and social events
  • Family support and drop-in services
  • Training, education and peer support
  • Speech & Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy

Designed to support people of all ages, stages, and types of neurodivergence — this will be a space for connection, growth, and joy.

🛠 What Needs To Be Done

The building has huge potential, but it needs a lot of work to make it safe and accessible. We’re working in phases — and your support will fund Phase 1 of the transformation.

Phase 1 Goals

  • 🚧 Install a secure fence around the outdoor space
  • 🪟 Replace single-glazed windows with toughened safety glass
  • 🔌 Rewire the entire building — there are currently no sockets and old strobe lights

🏡 What the Hub Will Include

Indoors:

  • A multi-use room for groups, training, wellbeing sessions, and community events
  • A smaller, quiet room for 1:1 sessions like Tutoring
  • Sensory room
  • Kitchen and toilets

Outdoors:

  • A sensory garden
  • An inclusive Forest School space for nature-based learning and play 🌿

Many neurodivergent families in our area have struggled to find accessible nature play — we’re excited to offer something truly inclusive.
