Rollerworld Foundation (RWF)

RCN 1205342, Colchester

The Rollerworld Foundation (RWF) is to promote and support the development of roller skating, skating sports, and skating athletes, performers, and participants in the UK and around the world. We aim to increase participation in skating and raise awareness of the physical, mental, and social benefits it offers. Additionally support and provide guidance to all National Governing bodies in the UK

Rollerworld Foundation (RWF)

The Rollerworld Committee has been working non-stop since its closure to keep the name alive and the community together. We understand how important places like Rollerworld are and although Rollerworld at 13 Moorside is now gone, it is not forgotten.

We have been working hard to become a charity. The Rollerworld Foundation has successfully been given charity status by the Charities Commission. This will enable us to create a safe and fun place for all, making it affordable and inclusive.

A skating rink provides a safe place for people of all ages, especially young people. It’s a place where you can listen to music, enjoy the light shows, make friends, enjoy each other’s company, and be in the moment.

The aims and objectives of The Rollerworld Foundation is to provide safe and inclusive places to skate, not only in Colchester but ultimately all over the UK. Our aim is to provide a facility which allows Roller Sports to thrive, to allow a training facility for minority sports that allow everyone including LGBTQIA+ and women to thrive in a safe place.

We want to encourage people of all walks of life to enjoy skating and skating sports even when they cannot afford to get involved. Roller Skating has for years been a huge community activity where people find their happy place, meet new friends and feel included.

The RWF wants to bring communities together, provide places for counselling and somewhere young people can call home, providing youth workers and working with groups in the community to make towns and cities a better place to be.

Overall, somewhere safe, somewhere fun, and somewhere totally amazing.

If you would like to help, make this happen you can donate here. If you can't donate, but want to help, please get in touch. We will be doing fundraising including events, accompanied by grants and funding to make this possible.

My partner and I met through our love of rollerskating and Rollerworld was a big part of our decision to settle in Colchester. There is a hole in this community ever since Rollerworld closed and I hope this fundraiser will help bring this important space back to Colchester.
