Hi, we’re the team behind Rollerworld, and we need your help to bring back a beloved community space! We consist of over 30 volunteers and since the closure of Rollerworld at 13 Moorside, the Rollerworld Committee has been working non-stop to keep its legacy alive and the community together. We know how vital places like Rollerworld are, and while the original venue may be gone, it is far from forgotten.
We are thrilled to announce that our efforts have led to the creation of The Rollerworld Foundation, which has now been granted charity status by the Charities Commission. This achievement marks a significant step forward in our mission to create safe, fun, and affordable spaces for everyone and will allow us to apply for suitable grants very soon.
**Our Vision for The Rollerworld Foundation:**
A skating rink isn’t just a place to skate; it’s a sanctuary where people of all ages can enjoy music, light shows, and the camaraderie of friends. It’s a place where young people can find safety, connection, and joy.
The Rollerworld Foundation aims to establish inclusive skating facilities, starting in Colchester and expanding to assist other Roller-organisations in the future. We are committed to providing a space where Roller Sports can flourish and offering training facilities for minority sports, ensuring that everyone is welcome (especially the LGBTQIA+ community and a place where women can thrive in a safe and supportive environment; we already work with the women's refuge to accomplish this at our events).
**Why This Matters:**
Roller Skating has long been a beloved community activity, bringing people together, fostering new friendships, and creating a sense of belonging. Our goal is to make skating accessible to all, regardless of financial means, and to use it as a tool to unite communities.
Beyond just skating, The Rollerworld Foundation aspires to offer spaces for counseling, youth workers, and community groups, helping to make our towns and cities better, safer places to live.
**How You Can Help:**
Your contributions will help cover essential costs like construction, rink, equipment, permits, and more. It will not go on wages. Every donation brings us one step closer to reopening Rollerworld as a vibrant community hub. With your help, we can create a space where people of all ages can come together, stay active, and have fun.
We need your support to make this dream a reality. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to opening the doors of our new skating spaces. If all of our social media followers donated £5 we could have the doors open in 12 months. We have created merchandise available to purchase here; t-shirts, hoodies, caps or even purchase a brick for our new home. By purchasing merchandise you are raising money but also get to enjoy an item. By wearing the merchandise you also help us raise awareness of the charity.
If you’re unable to donate but still want to help, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll be organising fundraising events, applying for grants, and exploring other funding opportunities to bring this vision to life.
Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] for more information or to get involved.
Together, we can rebuild Rollerworld in Colchester and create a space that brings joy, fitness, and connection to the community. Please donate today and share our campaign with your friends and family. Thank you for your support!
With gratitude, The Rollerworld Committee
