Bull House is a 15th century timber-framed former inn that sits at the western end of Lewes High Street, just up the hill from Lewes Castle.
It has had many uses, owners and tenants during its 600-year history, its most famous occupant being Thomas Paine. The political writer, pamphleteer, theorist and thinker is considered a father of British Radicalism.
With challenging economic conditions being felt right across the heritage sector, our role as a guardian of Sussex’s heritage is becoming increasingly difficult. You can help us undertake important conservation work, enhancing the experience for all who visit and safeguarding these wonderful properties for future generations to enjoy.
We specifically need your help to carry out essential repairs and reinvigorate Bull House as a welcoming visitor attraction.
Our trustees have generously pledged £500 towards the work, but we need your support to raise more and ensure the work can be completed.
Please consider donating, as every contribution, no matter the amount, helps us reach our goal.
How to donate
You can make a donation via this Crowdfunder, or if you don’t mind which project your donation supports, you can donate to our main fundraiser and we will allocate your donation where it’s needed most.
