Raising at least £2400 for a 24/7 public defibrillator on Treffry Road in memory of Allan.
The defibrillator(s) will be installed in a prominent, fully accessible location on Treffry Road — available 24/7. These will be additional defibrillators to the one privately and very kindly purchased by Abbie and Ryan.
They will be the only publicly accessible defibs in the immediate area. Other nearby defibrillators, such as those at Archbishop Benson School, Waitrose and Dunelm, are located within premises that are only accessible during working hours.
If someone has a cardiac arrest, a defibrillator can help restore a normal heart rhythm while waiting for emergency services to arrive.
More than 30,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK each year, yet defibrillators are used in fewer than 1 in 20 cases. Fewer than 1 in 10 people survive. Survival chances decrease by up to 10% for every minute without treatment.
The “chain of survival” gives someone the best chance:
• Early recognition and call to 999
• Early CPR
• Early defibrillation
• Post-resuscitation care
Defibrillators require servicing approximately every five years, and replacement parts such as pads must be replaced after use. The Oliver King Foundation, who we are working with to supply the equipment, will also provide training to a limited number of local people. However, in an emergency anyone can use a defibrillator — they are designed for public use and the emergency services will guide you through the process.
Please donate what you are able!
This project will create a lasting, life-saving legacy in memory of Allan who sadly passed away on 17 January 2026.
