To provide essential shoes and socks for 480 students at Gudel Secondary School in the Mahakulung region (south of Everest) in Nepal.
In remote Everest region schools, harsh Himalayan winters cause children to drop out due to inadequate clothing.
In a collaboration between the Nepal English Education Foundation (NEEF) and New Futures Nepal, 480 warm tracksuits have recently been funded for students at Gudel Secondary School, one of three secondary schools in the Mahakulung region south of Everest in Nepal. These tracksuits will allow these children to stay warm, healthy, and in school throughout harsh winters. They will allow families to save money previously spent on inadequate clothing, and ensure students can concentrate on learning - boosting grades and confidence. As well as this, they will reduce illness, meaning fewer medical costs and missed school days, and allow girls and boys to participate equally in sports and activities in comfort.
That said, this fundraising did not include the funds required to provide these children with quality shoes and socks. Without these essential items of clothing, many of these children will walk long distances and spend their school days in inadequate footwear.
We are therefore hoping that you will be able to help us raise the £1750 required (that's just £3.65/c. 5 USD per child!) to provide these 480 students with shoes and socks, providing financial support to struggling porter families and protecting the health and well-being of these vulnerable children.
