Polkerris Scout Group
A community-focussed scout group located on the south coast of Mid Cornwall, with sections covering all the scouting age groups from Squirrells (age 4-6) through Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers in partnership with Mid Cornwall District.
All sections meet regularly at either St Andrew's Hall in Tywardreath or at the beach Activity Centre at Polkerris.
By choosing to support Polkerris Scout Group, you are enabling our fantastic group of Section Leaders and Helpers to deliver experiences and activities that will engage and support our young members in their personal development, with the aim of empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Your Contribution
Your contribution will be added to our Activities and Equipment Fund. All Group members pay a monthly subscription fee, which covers Scout capitation costs, administrative costs, energy bills, maintenance etc etc - essentially all the boring stuff. With the current cost of living situation, we are reluctant to further increase this amount, so are looking for donations to allow us to fund more of the exciting, skills-for-life, inspirational stuff! Such as:
- Canoeing, paddle-boarding and sailing equipment, including buoyancy aids, so we can make excellent use of our amazing location and fantastic facility at Polkerris Beach
- Camping equipment - tents, groundsheets, stoves, pots, pans - you need the kit if you want do it properly Scouting style. Including newly available Rocket Stoves, which are a great, safe, portable option for cooking on the go!
- Hiking Equipment - maps and compasses, rucksacks, first aid kits
- Crafting supplies - Kids love to craft! Especially the younger sections - using a range of materials to make things helps kids develop in loads of different ways - improving fine motor skills, finding new ways to communicate and express themselves, learning to follow instructions (and also learning to go their own way), and develop teamwork and social skills to name a few!
- Activity fund - your donation may also be used to help with travel and accommodation costs for day and overnight trips further afield
