Plympton Cricket Club would like to announce their exciting project for the refurbishment of its cricket pavilion & viewing area at Harewood

 New stretch target

If we achieve our initial target of £20,000, additional monies donated will immediately be put towards Phases 2, 3 and 4 of the Project in its entirety.

Our entire Project have been granted planning permission by Plymouth City Council and we intend to proceed with this exciting project in 4 phases as detailed below.

Phase 1 – Internal Lounge Area - We are looking to enhance the experience to Community & Membership users and feel that our lounge is due for an upgrade. As the plans show, we are looking to relocate the bar from its current position and placing it along the back wall, thus facing the cricket square. An increased bar serving area along with opening up the room and removing the current concrete columns will allow for much better viewing and flow within the building. Additionally, this remodelling will allow better use of the available space and so make it more attractive to be hired out for Community use.

Phase 2 – External Viewing Area - We are looking to modernise and increase the current terracing area. We recognise that this will enable us to use this area as an extension of the bar facilities and have dedicated elevated viewing vistas to enhance the cricket viewing experience. This phase will also enhance the experience for other community groups who may wish to use our facilities.

Phase 3 – Frontage of Pavilion -  Currently, it is not possible to watch the cricket being played from inside the Cricket Pavilion. Once we have the internal and terraced area looking fit for purpose, our attention would then change to the frontage of the building and our plan is to open this up with sliding glass doors and additional windows to enable users to be able to watch cricket with an indoor/outdoor experience. This will make the Lounge area open and airy and blend onto the terraced area turning our facility into the vision of what we want it to be.

Phase 4 – Installation of Solar Panels - As we all look at our carbon footprint we see this as an excellent opportunity to reduce ours. We have ample space on the roof for this project and would very much like to have Solar Panels installed as the final phase of the pavilion works.

Obviously all of the above will need to be funded and we have costed the entire project being in the region of £75,000.

We have broken the project down into bite sized portions (although they are large bites!).

Our first aim to complete phase 1 is to raise £20,000 and we are going live for an 8 week period covering the months of August and September. If we are successful in obtaining the funding it is our intention to commence with phase 1 this year during the off season so that the bar improvements are completed in time for the new season in April 2022.

Other phases will follow again when funding is in place but we would like to have the project finished in its entirety by the start of the 2023 cricket season.

This project is exciting and ambitious and it outlines the future vision for the Cricket Club in bringing the facilities up to date off the pitch whilst keeping a successful team on the pitch.

Ultimately, doing all of this work allows the Club to future-proof its bar & lounge which is it's main source of income. The refurbishment project will therefore be a step towards guaranteeing our sustainability for years to come!

Your support would be very welcome!!!
