We'll create an open market place for social enterprises in the city to promote themselves and do extra marketing to highlight all the enterprises who are running workshops and events during the festival
Plymouth Social Enterprise Network is a Network of social enterprises.
A coming together of the amazing businesses in and around Plymouth who are using their business skills to put people before profit and create a better economy that takes care of the people around it and the world we live in. With ever increasing cuts in statutory services, social enterprises are bridging those gaps and can be the safety net that catches people when they most need it.
The Festival
This is our 12th year of running the festival, after taking it online last year due to the lockdown we intend to come back with a bigger, better and more inclusive event with the help of this Crowdfunder. We want to really highlight some of the incredible 200 social enterprises in Plymouth and create opportunities for skill sharing, inspiring, learning, socialising, connecting and profile raising. Social Enterprises can be anything - cafes, therapists, bee keepers, bike specialists, universities, or supermarkets... and they are all over this city! They work to support the people who need it, businesses like Moments cafe and hub who support people living with Dementia to have full, happy lives, Nudge Community Builders who are recreating Union Street as a place literally owned by it's community, Simply Counselling who provide accessible therapy for all but also create specially funded spaces to support adults and children who have experienced domestic violence. This is just a few of them, you can find more on our website and in the rewards below. We want to show the people of Plymouth that the social enterprise sector has their interests at heart and we're acting on it!
Why now?
We are in the Decade of Action to rise to the challenge of meeting the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, and we know that all businesses need to work together to create the future we all deserve. This two week event will take a look at the Sustainable Development Goals and work out how we can all take Local Action for the Global Goals.
It will run for two weeks from 15th November to 26th November, showcasing the sustainable development goals and picking up themes and discussions from the COP26 to make 'doing better' a whole lot easier for us all.
Why do we need the Crowdfunder?
We know there are challenges for all businesses coming out of the pandemic, we want to run a bigger, easier to access festival. We want to use this money to support smaller enterprises to get involved and to do more marketing and showcasing to support them in their recovery and growth moving forward.
We want to make sure that we keep as many events as possible free so that we can make sure we're reaching a wide range of communities and people.
We want to be able to bring in partners from national organisations to support the growth of new and existing social enterprises with their skills and connections.
We want to be able to increase how widely we market the festival to really make sure the people of Plymouth know what social enterprises in their city are doing, and how those enterprises can support them.
We need YOU to help make it happen though - #DoingBusinessDifferently
