Who are we?
Plymouth Leander (PL) are a leading swimming club with over 250 members, our programme ranges from our Hydronauts learn to swim programme starting at 4 years old through to our Performance Elite swimmers who are currently preparing to attempt to qualify for the 2021 Olympic Games. We have a dynamic, professional and dedicated team of coaches who are committed to delivering both excellence and inclusion throughout our programme. Our aim is to inspire and motivate all of our swimmers to be the very best they can be, to fulfil their potential and to achieve their goals.
Why are we raising funds?
The Covid-19 pandemic meant that we could not swim for over 4 months which also meant that we had no income from swimming fees for this period of time. Since returning to the pool, we are incurring extra costs to ensure our swimmers’ safety by following all Covid-19 guidance from Swim England and the Government.
The closure of Plymouth Life Centre has also meant that we have had to source pool time from other providers at a higher cost to our club. We have also lost our access to our only 50m training facility, meaning that we have to travel to a number of new venues all of which cost much more than we have paid previously. At this current time, we are also unable to host swim meets which is a significant source of income relied upon each year to support the growth and development of the club.
With another lockdown imminent, this will inevitably impact the club further. We need financial support to keep the club running.
What will these funds be used for?
The funds that we are able to raise are critical to the long-term development of our whole swimming programme. We are calling on the PL family and greater community to purchase rewards or simply donate as all funds raised will go towards ensuring we can keep our learn to swim and training programme running for all swimmers. It will also ensure the long-term future and strength for Plymouth Leander.
Plymouth Leander plays such a big part for all of the members in our community and we want to embrace all of your support on our crowdfunding journey to continue to maintain such an inspirational swimming club.
