Plymouth Art Weekender (PAW) is an artist-led DIY arts festival with venues all over the city opening their doors to visitors each September. Plymouth Art Weekender's exhibitions and events showcase a huge range and variety of artworks made by the creative community of Plymouth and the wider South West. PAW creates an important platform for the work of artists at all stages of their career to be promoted and supported as part of the same event - from school children & residents, to local art students, recent graduates and professional artists working in the region, all the way up to big name art superstars! We do this to make sure that communities across Plymouth can come together to enjoy art, take part in activities and have new exciting, creative experiences.

PAW 2020 has been a bit different - we have been planning a safe Weekender to bring the creative community back together to share and experience the amazing art that happens across Plymouth. We've certainly been missing cultural events, and so we're super excited to welcome you to the amazing things that creatives in Plymouth have put on for you this 25th, 26th, and 27th of September.

Through our funding, each year we generate jobs and paid opportunities for artists, curators, producers, events assistants, photographers and videographers to make sure everything runs smoothly and we want this year to be no different. We also help early career artists to realise new and ambitious projects through our Plymouth Platform mentoring scheme, as well as a wide range of seed-funded projects through our SOUP events, which this year are tackling a wide range of themes such as climate change, COVID-19, and local art spots in the city.

This year our gorgeous guide is back, as well as dedicated online listings and maps of all of the fantastic cultural events that take place throughout the city across the 3 days. We understand that this year it's of vital importance that visitors have all the up-to-date information on venue opening times, social distancing measures, ticketing, and everything else you need for a safe PAW!

The money we receive will be used to keep doing the vital work to keep everyone safe - pre planning & on the ground; keeping visitors, participants, volunteers and staff safe at the festival. It will also go towards the production of the PAW 2020 commissions & community engagement work around these, as well as contributing to our budget to produce the festival itself - documenting the weekend, signage & setting up our hub for visitors and participants.

Your donation will make sure we can make this happen, from as little as £3 you can help us continue to raise the profile of the arts in the South West, keep PAW safe, support artists, and in return we have a bunch of wonderful rewards!
