Play Therapy for Baby Loss Siblings

Aim

Forever Stars provide play therapy sessions for young children, who have experienced baby loss in their family.

Who are we?

Forever Stars are a registered charity, that is run entirely by volunteers.  Our mission is to support families that have experienced baby loss, whether that loss is an early miscarriage, stillbirth or early neonatal loss.  We provide support from the family's stay in hospital and then through their lifetime of coping with the loss.  We support all members of the family and at any point in their processing of their grief, whether that is immediately after their loss or 21 years after their loss, everyone can access our services.

Impact

Before Forever Stars was established in 2014, there was no local support in Nottingham for baby loss families, once they had left the hospital.  This left families feeling isolated, unsupported and struggling to cope with their new 'normal life'.  It is often said that when a family suffers baby loss, the lose their social life, their regular support network, confidence and ability to see past their grief to move forward.  Forever Stars provides support both professional and peer support, that helps them engage with others who have had a similar experience, the charity helps people feel less isolated and able to talk about their baby and importantly we give family's hope regarding their future life, hope that embraces the baby they have lost, whilst looking to the future with optimism whilst managing their grief.

Our play therapy service is vital for families.  To access this service via the NHS can be as long as 5 years, by which time a young childs wellbeing, emotional development and educational successes can be hugely impacted upon.  With Forever Stars and the support from people like you, we can offer an appointment within 2 weeks and guarantee them 15 weeks as an initial play therapy period

Why are we crowdfunding?

Forever Stars is entirely funded by the generosity of our supporters, we receive no funding from the NHS or the Govt for our play therapy service.  Much of what we do, is provided by volunteers, however, for the play therapy services we do hire in the services of professionals, to ensure that we are supporting these traumatised young children with the best professional support available and with baby loss experience.

This service can only continue to be provided if we are successful in sharing this message with people like you and organisations like yours.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will be spent on creative materials for the children to use in play therapy sessions, it will also be used for us to facilitate sessions with play therapy professionals.
