To Save the Platform Tavern from being repossessed by the bank.
Many of you will remember that in October 2023, disaster struck when a devastating fire forced us to close for three long months. Thanks to your incredible generosity back then, we were able to rebuild and reopen – but the closure left us with a huge backlog of mortgage payments. Despite fighting hard to keep going, the pressure has now reached breaking point, and without urgent help, we face the heartbreaking prospect of the bank repossessing the pub.
Pubs like ours are disappearing at an alarming rate – last year alone, the UK lost an average of one pub every single day. When a place like the Platform Tavern goes, it’s not just bricks and mortar that are lost – it’s community, culture, and connection.
We don’t want to be here asking again. We’d rather be pulling pints, hosting gigs, and keeping Southampton’s history alive. But we believe the Platform Tavern is worth fighting for – and if you do too, please consider donating and sharing our appeal.
We play a vital role in Southampton’s local life: supporting live music from talented local artists, providing a welcoming space for everyone, and celebrating the city’s heritage, including our unique links to the Titanic.
