Aim

Placenta Accreta Scotland aims to raise awareness and offer peer support to mums & families impacted by Placenta Accreta Spectrum.

Placenta Accreta Scotland

Supporting Families Through One of Pregnancy's Most Serious Conditions

Our Story

Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) is a rare but potentially life-threatening pregnancy condition where the placenta grows too deeply into the wall of the womb. A diagnosis can be overwhelming, bringing fear, uncertainty, complex medical decisions, and often significant emotional trauma for women and their families.

Placenta Accreta Scotland was created by people with lived experience of PAS who understand the challenges families face before, during, and after diagnosis.

We are supported by Placenta Accreta Ireland who have shared their exceptional resources with us and helped us build and grow a supportive community where no family has to navigate this journey alone.

Why We Need Your Help

Every year, families across Scotland are affected by Placenta Accreta Spectrum. Many report feeling isolated, frightened, and unable to find others who truly understand what they are experiencing.

Our aim is to provide:

  • Peer support for women and families affected by PAS
  • Accessible information and resources
  • Online and in-person support networks across Scotland
  • Awareness raising to improve understanding of the condition
  • Advocacy for patients and families
  • Opportunities for families to connect, share experiences, and support one another

As a newly established community organisation, we need funding to build the foundations that will allow us to reach families throughout Scotland.

Our Vision

We want every person diagnosed with Placenta Accreta Spectrum in Scotland to have access to reliable information, emotional support, and a community that truly understands.

Together, we can build a national support network that offers hope, connection, and practical help when it is needed most.
