The return of the Oxford City Stars
Oxford City Stars have been a proud part of British ice hockey for over 40 years, and we are aiming to bring the team back to compete in the National Ice Hockey League Division 1 (NIHL1) — where they belong.
We need your help to make this vision a success. We believe we can build a competitive senior team that will bring excitement, pride, and success to all levels of ice hockey in Oxford.
Having a successful senior team will show our talented young players that there is a clear pathway to aspire to — the opportunity to play competitive senior ice hockey right here at our home rink. For too many years, gifted local players have been forced to drift to other rinks, and we are determined to put an end to that.
We have already received fantastic support from Serco, More Leisure, England Ice Hockey, UK Ice Hockey, and Oxford City Council. Together, we are confident that we can build a winning team.
An experienced coach is ready to take the reins, alongside the first pieces of a very exciting roster. Much of this work is happening behind the scenes and will be revealed in good time…

Who are we?
We are the Oxford City Ice Hockey Club, a proud member of England Ice Hockey.
Our club is made up of:
Oxford Junior Stars (~140 players aged 5 to 18)
Oxford Rising Stars (Senior NIHL2 league team)
Oxford City Stars
Our club has incredible diversity — from young children taking their first steps in the sport, to seasoned senior players, and even GB internationals who have won World Championship gold medals. We truly have it all.
But our club isn’t just about the players. We actively encourage and welcome our supporters — new and old — to be part of the wider Oxford ice hockey family.
This is a totally new team. Ran by committee for the good of ice hockey in Oxford. For this to happen, we need our supporters to purchase match/season tickets for next season now! Sponsors to get on board.
Recently, we reached out on social media for people who wanted to help with the return of the Oxford City Stars, and we were overwhelmed by the response. The level of support and willingness to get involved has been incredible, and this work is already underway.
We hope this Crowdfunder gives you the opportunity to contribute to building something truly special for ice hockey in Oxford.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are not looking for donations. We are asking for our fans, new and old, to purchase tickets/jerseys for next season, sponsors to get on board.
For the first time, the 2026/27 season will bring all Oxford ice hockey teams under one unified structure. This allows us to properly grow the game locally and take full control of player development — from juniors, through NIHL2, and into NIHL1.
For any club in any sport, control of player development from junior to senior levels is vital for long-term sustainability. We believe that a competitive return of the Oxford City Stars is essential for the positive future development of our entire club.
Every single penny raised will go directly towards the successful return of the Oxford City Stars. This includes player funding, kit, sticks, tape, gloves, helmets, travel, physio, ice costs — the list is endless.
Even the purchase of a single ticket for the new season helps us move this project forward and brings us closer to success.

How you can play your part
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
