To raise awareness of the impact of a late diagnosis via a Podcast featuring people who have lived experience.
There is a distinct lack of support for people who are late diagnosed, those awaiting diagnosis or those who self identify as being Neurodivergent. So we created this space for those of us who often get told we 'don't meet criteria' for support. Those of us who get told we're 'too high functioning' or that we have 'low support needs.'
Our needs might not be as apparent as other Neurodivergent people, but we all struggle in our own ways and we found that being around other people who 'get it' is really beneficial for our wellbeing.
More often than not, existing provision requires a formal diagnosis, a referral from a statutory service, and a lot of red tape and jumping through hoops. We know this from our own lived experience.
We created this space so people can access peer support, reduce isolation and improve wellbeing. We do this via creative workshops, social evenings such as games nights and lego nights, and offer peer support sessions too. We now want to reach more people and have a bigger online presence. The conversations we have are so important and we want to capture them and share our experiences with others in the form of a podcast. We need equipment to make this happen so we hope you can help us to help other people.
Everyone involved in our project is Neurodivergent - most of our team are Autistic, have ADHD or both, alongside many other co-existing conditions. When we say we understand, we really do!
