New Starter Blocks and Backstroke Ledges

Aim

The club and swimmers desperately need new starting blocks and ledges to bring them up to modern times and continue their successes!

Who are we?

NDSC is a competitive and fun swimming club based in Newmarket, Suffolk, UK with over a 100 years of history. The club caters to a wide range of swimmers, from beginners to those aiming for high-level competitive swimming, as well as promoting team spirit and friendship through sport. Friends made through swimming are often for life and the sport promotes discipline, health and respect for others.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The club desperately needs new starting blocks to bring them up to modern standards and allow both our swimmers to train successfully and for the club to continue to host its highly successful competitive swim meets.

How we’ll spend the money raised

New swimming starter blocks, pads and backstroke ledges do not come cheap and the club needs six, one for each of the swim lanes. The money raised will help the club purchase and fit these and the latest quote is £19,000.00. Any extra raised will be put towards extra kit for the swimmers to help with training and competition.

Community impact

The swimming club helps the local sports facilities to run - the club pays to use the community pool and thus helps keep it running and available to members of the public. By hosting meets and events for other swimming clubs the facilities become known to their communities and supporters.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
