New pitch for Hailsham Hockey Club

Aim

I’m helping Hailsham Hockey Club raise money to resurface their pitch

On 3rd March I will be running the Eastbourne Half Marathon then on 17th I'm walking from Hastings Pier to Eastbourne Pier! This walk follows the 15 miles (24km) of coastline between Hastings and Eastbourne .

Why am I raising funds?

Hailsham Hockey Club is looking to initially raise £25,000 to contribute towards the resurfacing of its home pitch at Hailsham Community College. This along with funds raised by the school and other organisations will enable the existing pitch to be resurfaced.

This will secure the future of hockey in Hailsham and also provide a much valued facility for the school and wider community that use it.

The hockey club has made the school its home since the original pitch was laid over 20 years ago. The surface is well beyond its intended life and is close to not being playable. 

Hailsham Hockey Club has over 100 members aged from 6-60+ with a men’s, women’s and youth section and was established in 1902.

Why is keeping hockey in Hailsham important to me?

I took up hockey again in my late 30s, having not played since school. I have loved being part of the Hailsham Hockey Club community. My fitness has improved and I have gained many new friends. Having taken up roles in the committee I see the commitment fellow volunteers give to enable others to have fun and keep active across all ages of our community. It is so important to keep this community going and a new pitch is desperately needed.
