Aim

Mull is the only major Scottish Island without a sports hall. This project will transform our sports opportunities and shared community life

Who are we?

The All-weather Indoor Sports Hall for Mull campaign is supported by a dedicated group of local volunteers who are working hard in the community to build this much needed facility on Mull.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to bring our community together and demonstrate strong local support for this project, helping us unlock additional funding from national and regional partners.

This project will increase access to sport and physical activity, improve health and wellbeing, and reduce isolation by providing a year-round indoor space for people of all ages. In our rural island community where facilities are limited and weather is a significant barrier, this project will make a meaningful difference to participation and community life.

Your support will help us show that this project is needed, valued and ready to deliver a real impact on the community of Mull.

How we’ll spend the money raised

This is stage two of our fundraising and has the aim of taking our funds already raised of £60,000 to over £100,000 with an eventual target of £200,000.

We are committed to being fully transparent about how funds are used and every contribution will go directly towards bringing this project to life.

The money raised through this Crowdfunder will support the critical stages of delivering the indoor sports and community hall by helping us move from planning into reality. Funds will be used across the following key areas:

  • Showing commitment to match funders. The more we can raise the more likely we are to attract regional and government funding towards the project. All funding will be used for the following:
  • Design and professional fees. This covers architectural design, engineering and technical surveys required to finalise the project and prepare for construction.
  • Site preparation and groundwork. This enables the project to get underway safely and efficiently.
  • Construction costs. Your contributions contribute towards the build of the hall structure, including materials and labour.
  • Essential facilities and equipment, such as flooring, lighting, heating, and basic sports and community equipment to ensure the space is functional from day one.
  • Accessibility and inclusivity features. These ensure the building is welcoming and usable for everyone in the community.

Community impact

This project will benefit the whole community by creating a shared, inclusive space that supports health, wellbeing and social connection across all age groups.

It will be a space for everyone. A place where children can play, grow in confidence and discover new opportunities. Where young people can stay active, build friendships and feel part of something positive. Where adults can take time for their health and wellbeing. And where older members of our community can stay connected, active and feel included.

Beyond sport, the hall will provide a flexible venue for a wide range of community uses, including fitness classes, clubs, events, meetings and educational activities. Support networks will grow and community life can flourish all year round.

In a place where weather and limited facilities restrict what we can do, this hall will remove those barriers. It will open up opportunities that many take for granted elsewhere and ensure that everyone, regardless of age, needs or ability, has access to a safe, welcoming space. This project will play a vital role in improving quality of life by bringing people together and strengthening community ties. The sports hall will create opportunities that are currently unavailable.

Overall, the project will deliver lasting benefits by supporting physical and mental wellbeing, encouraging participation and creating a place that is truly for everyone in the Mull community for years to come.
