Wellmoor project team at Moretonhampstead Development Trust is working with a group of passionate locals to start a community workshop. 

The Moretonhampstead ‘Men in Sheds’ Community workshop will act as a library of tools, with a friendly team to guide you, a place to take part in courses and to meet and chat with friends. ’Men in Sheds’ is an international network of community based workshops aimed at improving mental health outcomes for men in particular. The workshop will be open to all members of the community of any age;  but certain days / times will be set aside to provide a workshop space exclusively for men to meet. 

The plan is that the workshop will be a base for all members of the community to access on different days to learn new skills and share knowledge - these could include:

• Carpentry
• Metal working
• Tool maintenance
• DIY skills 
• Furniture making and repair
• Cycle maintenance 

The community can put forward project ideas for the shed to produce and for courses to be run. 

It is a place for everyone and where all are welcome to share a cuppa and sand some wood whilst putting the world to rights! 

Why do we need help? 

We now have the offer of a base in the garage at the Moretonhampstead BT exchange building. We are negotiating about a lease (which would be rent-free) with BT, and then hope to start repairs, making good and fitting out as a Community Shed. We need your support to do all that!
