To raise £16,424 to improve facilities, refurbish, replace-steps, seating, changing rooms & handrails to be accessible & inclusive for all.

Who are we?We are an outdoor bowling club based in Mitcham, Surrey since 1930. It is managed by an enthusiastic committee of volunteer members. During last season we offered free taster sessions to local support groups and it proved to us that bowls is a sport for "All Ages, Genders and Abilities". It helps improve fitness and mental wellbeing. It's a great way to relax, with family & friends and make new friends in the local community. It relieves loneliness and isolation.
In order to continue these sessions we need to improve the facilities by replacing the steps onto the green, replace broken benches & damaged handrails for the disabled ramps, provide new changing rooms and by refurbishing the Club House. The cost is £16,424 we have received a conditional offer of £8,212 from Sports England provided we raise the remaining £8,212 through Crowdfunding.
With your help we hope to do this by the end of March 2026 in order to open our upgraded Club House & Green to All in April 2026.

We need to improve and maintain the facilities so that more people can play Bowls socially or competitively. Local residents could use the Club for meetings, get-togethers, or just pop in watch a match and meet new people.
We could extend the opening hours. For example if a group wished to use the bowling green facilities after a coffee morning or before an evening meeting then it would be suitable and safe.
The Club has been in existence since 1930 we would like to do our part to keep it going for future generations by maintaining it.
Extra Funds
Any extra funds received will be used to support local groups and new members on a limited budget by providing aids and equipment to make playing bowls as enjoyable and accessible as possible.
If you're applying for extra funding, this is a good place to demonstrate why your project is eligible so refer back to the criteria to help complete this section

It’s important to be transparent about how you plan to spend the money you raise. Your audience will be more likely to make a pledge if they can see how their donation will help. Be specific and add a budget breakdown.

The Club is based in a lovely, quiet park with a Community Café, Leisure Centre, and a free car park nearby. It is away from busy roads and traffic noise but is easily accessible by foot or by public transport. The facilities could be used by local residents and groups for meetings and activities.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
