Aim

Traveling the UK in a motorhome to bring hope to communities in mental health crisis. This is suicide prevention, one conversation at a time

My Why: From Darkness to Purpose

Three years ago, I was standing on the edge. Literally and mentally - I was in the darkest place I'd ever been. Suicidal thoughts consumed me. I felt hopeless, alone, and convinced that the world would be better off without me.

Then I found a men’s mental health peer-to-peer support group. In a circle of men who understood, who'd been where I was, who didn't judge - I found hope. I found my voice. I found my life again.

That circle saved me. Those conversations, that community, that simple act of showing up and being heard - it gave me back my future.

Now, I'm dedicating that future to ensuring no one else has to suffer in silence. No family should lose someone the way mine nearly lost me.

This is my "Why". This is Mission Possible.

The Crisis We're Facing

The statistics are heartbreaking:

  • 7,057 lives lost to suicide in the UK in 2024
  • 1 suicide death every 90 minutes
  • 19 people die by suicide every single day
  • Males are 3.2 times more likely to die by suicide than females
  • Men aged 50-54 years: 27.5 deaths per 100,000 (highest risk group)
  • 75% of people with mental health problems receive no treatment at all
  • 50% of adults with mental health problems have never sought help
  • 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year
  • Wales saw an increase in suicide rate from 14.0 (2023) to 15.7 (2024) per 100,000
  • Scotland saw a decrease from 14.6 (2023) to 12.7 (2024) per 100,000
  • England remained stable at 11.1-11.2 per 100,000
  • Northern Ireland data shows ongoing high rates around 11.0 per 100,000

But here's what the statistics don't tell you: Behind every number is a person. A son, a daughter, a brother, a sister, a niece, a nephew, a parent, a friend. Someone who felt they had nowhere to turn. Someone who needed hope but couldn't find it.

Barriers to Access:

  • Long waiting lists (6+ months for specialist services)
  • Lack of awareness of available services
  • Stigma and shame
  • Geographic barriers (rural areas)
  • Cost (private therapy £40-100+ per session)
  • Services don't address holistic needs

Economic Impact

Direct Costs:

  • £11.8 billion annual cost of suicide and self-harm to UK economy
  • £1.67 million estimated lifetime cost per suicide (lost productivity, healthcare, investigation costs)
  • £70+ billion annual cost of mental health problems to UK economy

We can change this. Together.

The Mission: Mission Possible

Before we can build the hub, we need to understand what communities truly need. We need to meet people where they are. We need to bring hope directly to those who need it most.

That's Mission Possible.

The Plan

For 6-12 months, I will travel the entire UK in a branded motorhome - from Land's End to John O'Groats, from Cornwall to the Scottish Highlands, from Wales to Northern Ireland - bringing hope to communities in crisis.

1761318571_campervan_branded_2.png

What I'll Do

1. Create Safe Spaces - In every town, city, and event I go to, I'll set up the motorhome as a "Mobile Hub of Hope" - a safe, welcoming space where people can:

  • Have confidential conversations about their struggles
  • Be heard and be seen as a real human being
  • Enjoy unlimited tea, coffee, and biscuits (nice chocolate ones!)
  • Access immediate support and resources
  • Connect with local mental health services
  • Find hope when they need it most
  • They walk out of the van feeling energised, positive, and hopeful

2. Gather Critical Data - I'll conduct thousands of conversations to understand:

  • What barriers prevent people from seeking help
  • What support people truly need (not what we think they need)
  • What works and what doesn't in mental health support
  • How we can design services that actually save lives

3. Raise Awareness - Through social media, local media, and community events, I'll be proud to:

  • Share stories of hope and recovery
  • Break down the stigma around mental health
  • Educate communities about suicide prevention
  • Build a national movement for change towards pure happiness & fulfilment
  • Share my book (first of many!)

4. Build Partnerships - I'll connect with:

  • Local mental health organisations
  • NHS trusts and healthcare providers
  • Community groups and charities
  • Businesses committed to employee wellbeing
  • Anyone who believes mental health matters

5. Prove the Model - Mission Possible will demonstrate that:

  • Immediate, accessible support saves lives
  • Holistic approaches work better than single-focus interventions
  • Peer support is powerful and effective
  • Communities are hungry for real solutions

Why This Will Work

Lived Experience

I've been in the darkness. I know what it feels like to need help and not know where to turn.

Proven Model

Andy's Man Club has demonstrated that peer support works. Holistic approaches to mental health are evidence-based. Accessible, immediate support saves lives. We're not reinventing the wheel - we're making it available to everyone.

Community-Centred

Mission Possible isn't about imposing solutions. It's about listening to communities, understanding their needs, and designing services that actually work for them.

Sustainable Approach

This isn't a one-time campaign. It's the foundation for a long-term, sustainable organisation that will serve communities for decades.

Passionate Commitment

I'm all in. I'm dedicating 6-12 months of my life to living in a motorhome, traveling the UK, and bringing hope to people who need it. I will do whatever I can to prevent any more lives being lost due to a lack of hope in people’s lives. It is my mission to bring hope, peace, and healing in abundance to people, no matter where they are.

Scalable Vision

One hub becomes five. Five becomes fifty. The UK model expands internationally. This isn't just about helping some people - it's about creating a movement that transforms how the world approaches mental health.

1761382323_purify_meditation_room_2.png

This isn't just my mission. It's ours.

Every person who's struggled with mental health. Every family who's lost someone to suicide. Every community that needs hope. Every person who believes that mental health matters.

This is our mission. And it's possible.
