New stretch target

£21,032 could keep a van on the road and serving families for 4 months.

Yemen is facing one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time. Seven years of violent conflict have decimated the health care system and pushed millions of people to the brink of famine. And now, the conflict in Ukraine is causing food and fuel prices to rise dramatically worldwide — putting even more families at risk of hunger and starvation.

We must not forget the people of Yemen, and they need our support right now and what’s more, if you contribute the cost of an item today, your gift will be tripled – matched once by the UK government, and once by a private IRC donor. This means your generosity will go three times as far in helping families in Yemen and worldwide.

One of the best ways to support Yemen is to help us keep our mobile health clinics on the road. Every day, the IRC health teams traverse dangerous, rocky terrain to deliver healthcare services to families living in remote locations, who otherwise have no other access to medical treatment.

“We call it ‘the car of hope’…I’m happy to serve all these people, because I know how valuable the services we provide to them are – that’s why I’m actively doing my work with happiness to this day.” –  Dr. Mohsen Fadel— a doctor and team leader for the IRC’s mobile health team.

Each mobile clinic is staffed by a team of medical specialists and is fully equipped with essential items – such as medicines, therapeutic food packets, and vaccines.

Mobile medical vans are a lifeline for families in crisis, and we need to keep them on the road, reaching more families and fully stocked with vital supplies. £10,516 is enough to provide the staff, medical supplies and fuel to keep a van bringing life-saving care to communities for 2 months. Will you help us get there?

  • £15 could provide 3 stethoscopes to help IRC teams check on people’s health
  • £27 could provide enough emergency food packets to treat a malnourished child
  • £159 could provide a standing height measure, to help our teams ensure children are growing up healthy

The money provided by UK aid is helping in the hardest-to-reach places in Nigeria, by supporting community outreach, health care training and mother-to-mother and father-to father support groups. We are supplying volunteers with the knowledge and resources they need to reach the people most in need.

The Protecting Milestones appeal aims to work with parents to tackle malnutrition and ensure children grow up happy and healthy. In countries like Yemen, Nigeria and beyond, malnutrition is robbing children of their futures. The IRC helps parents around the world raise healthy children by treating malnutrition, providing nutritious meal packs, offering education and more so kids are able to reach their full potential.

Funds from the UK government will go in full to the new programme to treat malnutrition in Nigeria and all other funds will support the IRC's work around the world.
