Aim
We have a dream of making our club accessible to everyone, we need to raise additional funds to make this dream a reality
Who are we?
We are an award winning archery club that currently has 150 members ranging from the ages of 9 to 90. We have novice through to expert archers shooting all different bow styles. We have archers that shoot just for fun and some that compete on the National Tour and have been selected for the Sussex County and England Teams. We are also working with a few of our Juniors who have the potential to be part of the Olympic pathway.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Meridian Archery Club is a place where people of all ages and physical abilities come together to enjoy the sport of archery. It's more than just a club - it's a supportive community that welcomes everyone.
However, our current facilities fall short when it comes to accessibility. We want to change that.
With your help, we're aiming to raise funds to:
- Upgrade our pathways and entrances to make them wheelchair friendly - currently wheelchair users are unable to gain access to the outdoor range during the winter months when the ground is wet and muddy. They are also unable to independently access the indoor range due to the uneven and deep gravel entrance.
- Install accessible toilets and changing facilities - The current facilities are simply too small, with wheelchair users unable to manoeuvre, due to very limited space.
- Adapt shooting lines and equipment areas for easier access - The shooting line is very uneven making wheelchairs unstable, it can also cause lower back pain for all archers. Like the pathways to the range, it also becomes too muddy for wheelchairs to gain access.
These relatively simple, yet vital improvements will help make archery truly inclusive and ensure that everyone - regardless of ability - can participate safely, confidently and comfortably
How we’ll spend the money raised
Every pound we raise will help us make our club a place where everyone can enjoy archery, regardless of mobility or ability. These improvements are about much more than just facilities — they’re about independence, dignity, and ensuring that no one is left on the side lines.
- Accessible Parking and Pathway
We will create dedicated hardstanding parking bays for our disabled archers, together with a solid pathway running the full length of the outdoor range. This means that, whatever the weather, everyone will be able to reach every part of the range safely and comfortably. - Wheelchair-Friendly Toilets
Our current toilets will be upgraded to meet the needs of wheelchair users, with space for easy manoeuvring and room for carers to assist when required. This will give peace of mind and make visits to the club far more comfortable for all. - Ramp for Indoor Range Access
At present, gravel can make it difficult for wheelchairs to reach the indoor range independently. A new concrete ramp will remove this access issue, ensuring safe, easy access for all archers without the need for extra assistance. - Improved Shooting Line
We will install hardstanding surfaces along the shooting line, creating a level and stable area. This will benefit every archer, but particularly wheelchair users, who will gain the security and stability they need to focus fully on their sport.

These improvements will allow us to open our doors more widely — to schools, local community groups, and anyone who wants to try the sport.
