Everest Children - Scholarship Scheme 2027

Aim

To fund scholarships for a further 25 orphaned and underprivileged children in the Everest region to return to full-time education in 2027.

In 2026, our original unprecedented pilot aimed to support 50 orphaned and underprivileged children from the Everest tourism sector and Mahakulung villages who had dropped out of school and were working as labourers in domestic work, construction, or the tourism sector in the Khumbu or surrounding areas, to return to full-time education.

Supported by a £5,000 grant from the Ardonagh Community Trust, we exceeded our target and enabled 59 vulnerable children to return to their schools and receive ongoing support for 2-3 years. 

As positive feedback comes from those who were enrolled in this scheme, we are in no doubt of the life-changing impact these bursaries have on those that receive them.

We therefore now set our sights on raising funds to continue this scheme in 2027. Our initial goal is to raise £2,500, with an aim to fund scholarships for a further 25 orphaned and underprivileged children in the Everest region.
