Logan's Close are thrilled to have been selected as one of the 20 shortlisted artists for Creative Scotland's "Crowdmatch" programme. By being selected for this scheme, money raised through pledges will be matched by Creative Scotland after reaching certain important miletstones.
If our Crowdfunder successfully raises £1000 in pledges from friends, family and our followers - Creative Scotland will match that £1000 and add it to our total, bringing our total fund to £2000.
If our Crowdfunder successfully raises a further £1500 from pledges - bringing our total fund to £3500 - Creative Scotland will match this and add £1500, taking our new total fund to £5000.
If our Crowdfunder goes on to raise a further £2500 from pledges - bringing our total fund to £7500 - Creative Scotland will again match this and add £2500, taking our total fund to a massive £10,000.
Finally, if through incredible generosity we can manage to raise an extra £5000 - bringing our total fund to £15,000 - Creative Scotland will once again match this by adding £5000, taking our grand total to a huge £20,000.
This opportunity is incredible and we are ecstatic to have been chosen by Creative Scotland as one of their shortlisted projects. With your support, we might just make this project something incredible.

Logan's Close is a vision dreamt up by musicians Scott Rough and Carl Marah. Founded from a love of music from the 1960s, Logan's Close fuse those sounds with contemporary ideas to create a nostalgic yet forward-thinking musical experience. Since its inception in 2014 in Dunbar, East Lothian, the band has garnered an impressive list of accolades. They have appeared twice on Scottish national television, been awarded BBC Radio Scotland's "Single of the Week" for two separate releases, completed a sold-out European tour in 2019 and are steadily making their mark on the UK music scene.
Now with a wealth of experience under their belts, Logan's Close are set to record their debut album in April.
Over the course of the pandemic, there were several factors affecting the progress of the album. Rehearsal was limited, band members moved on to new things and in addition, the recording studio we had booked literally exploded.
Scott and Carl both spent much of their time writing new material without an outlet to perform it. Now after 2 years, these songs will be brought together to form the tracks for their debut album "Heart-Shaped Jacuzzi" Stylistically, it is a big step forward, utilising complex arrangements, bold lyricism and honing their craft to create something truly striking.

The band have independently managed to fund the recording of their debut album "Heart-Shaped Jacuzzi" and are set to jet off to Hamburg, Germany to put down the tracks at Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Studios. The album will be produced by studio owner Dennis Rux: a Hamburg-based musician & producer and owner of the Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Studios. He is/was playing guitar in several bands including The Trashmonkeys, Ronda, Thee Pounders and many more and has ran vintage analogue recording studios since 1997.
Over the years he collected a remarkable collection of vintage studio gear and instruments and is experienced in analogue recording techniques, which is highly appropriate for the Logan's Close sound.

It is at this point that the Crowdfunding project appears. The band sadly do not have the funds available to physically produce the album, as well as market and promote its release. In the modern age, as an unsigned artist, the costs involved to produce vinyl records, CDs and even digitally distributing music can be crippling. It's been incredibly difficult over the years to fund the band's activities over the years and has involved a lot of personal sacrifice to get to where we are today.
A project of this magnitude is something we simply cannot finance alone.
In order to make this album a reality, we are asking you to pledge what you wish towards it, and this funding will contribute to the following:
Mastering is the final piece of engineering required on the tracks: some magic and sparkle is added, before the songs are arranged in a flowing and ordered way: including metadata and everything necessary for a song to be commercially ready for release. For this to be done professionally, this aspect of the project makes up approximately £1000 of our target.
We have calculated that in order to physically produce a run of vinyl records and CDs, and pay for digital distribution worldwide, we would need approximately £3500. Ultimately, having the album in one's hands is what this project is about. Originating as purely a conception within the band's minds, to being a physical treasure is a huge achievement we would love to be made possible.
The final aspect of this project is the promotion of the album. It's a sad reality that the best recorded album in the world (obviously "Heart Shaped Jacuzzi") would make very little impact on the world without a well-thought-out and well-financed promotional campaign. Creating the album is one half of the journey - making it visible and available to the right people is the second half. Being an independent band, this aspect is particularly challenging. In order to achieve this, we would need to work with a professional music promotion/marketing agency, who we could work alongside and tailor a campaign, to make "Heart Shaped Jacuzzi" a household name.
In addition to this, there are many other costs such as photography, graphic design, traditional and social media marketing campaigns and more which would also be involved.
In all, we have calculated that at the very minimum, £3500 would need to be raised to cover all of these associated costs.
Taking into account the combined expenses for this project, we would need to raise a minimum of £8000 to make the "Heart-Shaped Jacuzzi" project possible. Any additional money raised will be used to make the project even more exciting, by being able to fund extra activities such as music videos for the singles, a more wide-reaching marketing campaign, promotional tours across the country and high quality merchandise with album artwork. In the case we hit our minimum target, we have a stretch target of £15,000 which would cover absolutely everything we would need to make the album project something special.

We have put our hearts and souls into these songs, and after such a long hiatus from gigs, rehearsing, recording and everything else we have grown to love, we are determined to make 2022 Logan's year. We're really proud that we've taken the project as far as Hamburg, but that's as far as it can go at the moment.
In addition to pledging towards our Crowdfunder, there are other ways that you can directly support Logan's Close.
- Share this Crowdfunder with friends and family. The more people who see this page, the more likely we will be able to hit those all important targets. Making posts visible on social media is incredibly tricky without a big marketing budget, so a simple share makes all the difference.
- Follow Logan's Close on our website and social media profiles. By subscribing to our emails and following our pages, you will be able to see the progress of our album, as well as live tour dates, new band merch and more directly in your inbox and news feed.
- Download/playlist our existing music. All of our previous releases are available to download and stream through all major music apps. By adding our music to your Spotify playlists, our stats will improve which will make our music more likely to be noticed by labels and radio DJs.
With your help, we can bring "Heart-Shaped Jacuzzi" to life and truly make our mark on the Scottish, UK and International music scenes. Thank you in advance for any support you can give towards this project. Much love xxx LC x
