People in our community are struggling. We are talking to people every day who are having to make heartbreaking choices such as buying food or paying a fuel bill to be able to cook a meal. This is happening all around us. This could be your friend, neighbour, school teacher or family member.
In September 2021 our foodbank provided food for 509 adults and 162 children. In September 2022 this was 1025 adults and 474 children, an increase of 101% and 192% respectively. In September 2021 we gave out 537 hot meals, in September 2022 it was up to 1041 hot meals.
At the same time of rising demand, food donations are falling and the cost of food we need to buy to keep our foodbank open is going up. This is why we need your support.
“I don’t have money for my electric so can I have food that doesn’t need cooking”.
“I never expected to need to come to a food bank, but I had to buy my son some school uniform and have no money left for food…I am so embarrassed.”
We make sure that everyone is welcomed, reassured, and supported.
Your donation will help us be there for them. You can make the difference.
Who are Living Well Bromley?
We are a community hub based in Penge, southeast London, supporting those in need in local and surrounding areas. We provide people with crisis support in the short term to ensure that no one goes hungry. This is through our foodbank, free community café and weekly free hot meal. For some this is the only hot meal they eat in a week.
We also continue to address the root causes by providing free advocacy advice for debt, benefit, housing, and homelessness issues. We will continue to tackle the growth in mental health illness by offering counselling, our art cafe with a qualified therapist and a welcoming, safe place to come.
