Lands End to John O’Groats - Scotland Edition

Aim

In June 2025 I’m cycling from Lands End to John O Groats and raising money to help open Hillfields Community Centre

The story so far

I have been cycling from Lands End to John O Groats in stages. In June 2024 I set off northwards from Bristol with my friend Helen, not sure how far we would get, and we made it to Gretna Green.

Then in August 2024 we set off southwards from Bristol, joined by our friend Adele, and reached Lands End 7 days later.

This year we are going to complete the journey, starting from Gretna Green, where we left off last time, to John O’Groats.

The challenge

The Scottish leg will be the most exciting and challenging. As well as Helen, two other friends, Jacqui and Mark, will be joining. We are mostly using the Sustrans National Cycle network, which avoids busy roads. The total distance for this leg will be around 450 miles and we aim to cover this distance in 10 days. There will be hills. There will be weather. There will be midgies. But we think we can handle it!
