Hillfields Community Garden

RCN 1204254, Bristol

Hillfields Community Garden is a welcoming and open space within Hillfields Park that gives local residents a space to grow, connect, and volunteer. We are delighted to have been able to expand our efforts in improving the lives of Hillfields residents by managing and re-opening Hillfields Park Community Centre.

Hillfields Community Garden

Hello and welcome to Hillfields Park Community Centre’s fundraising page!

After much anticipation, we are delighted to announce that Hillfields Community Garden has recently taken over the running of Hillfields Park Community Centre!

We will be reopening in the very near future and have begun plans for a fun open day.

We can’t wait to share this amazing space with everyone, however, we need your help. There is some crucial work needed to be done to give us the resources we need to deliver this.

We have a small but mighty team of trustees, employees and of course, an ever increasing group of volunteers that have been working in Hillfields bringing positive changes for our local community through Hillfields Community Garden https://www.hillfieldscommunitygarden.co.uk/

Taking on the Community Centre means we can expand our local work to ensure that residents have a safe, warm and welcoming space to take part in courses, lessons, clubs, and workshops - from art to sport, food and advice for our children and young people to our oldest residents. We want to have something for everyone.

So, how can you help?

We need to raise £5,000 to ensure that we have enough funds to provide a solid start in delivering our services out of the building.

In the next three months, we need to raise the following:

-       £1,000 to re-decorate communal rooms and renovate our toilets so that they are fully accessible and fit for purpose

-       £3,500 for utility running costs as a start-up organisation, utility bills are one of the biggest outgoings

-       £500 for equipment for new groups

Re-opening the Community Centre is just the first step of our journey and we need your support to ensure that our operations and utilities are funded so that we can deliver the much needed services for local residents.

We’re asking for your support—whether it’s a donation, sharing this campaign, or spreading the word. Every contribution, big or small, will bring us closer to preserving our community centre.

By donating to this campaign, you’re not just contributing towards a building—you’re investing in the future of our community. You’re helping to create a safe, warm, and inviting space where friendships are formed, skills are learned, and memories are made.

Hillfields Community Garden

The charity was established five years ago by local residents who wanted to create a space in our local park for our children to connect with nature and the local community. This quickly expanded into a cooking and growing group on Saturdays, a Wild Womens peer support group and a wellbeing group.

In 2023 we then began a Climate and Nature project which started us talking to residents about local issues around housing/heating, food/costs, waste/fly tipping, transport/buses, nature/green spaces and the local economy/opportunities. This begun our work looking at wider issues in Hillfields. As our groups grew we adapted as an organisation taking on one of our Co-Founders as our full time Chief Exec, with the other Co-Founder being the Chair of Trustees.

Sadly, in early 2024 the charity running the “Hub” (HFaCT) in Hillfields closed and in doing so closed the doors to the Community Centre. We have been working diligently in the background to reopen the centre and help it to once again ‘serve’ our community.

Thank you so much for supporting us, every penny will go to our efforts to reopen the centre and bring it back to full use by the Hillfields community.
