Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival Kids Fun Run

Aim

To fund a safe, inclusive Kids Fun Run, covering equipment and medals, and keeping entry costs low so all families can take part.

The Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is a vibrant, community‑focused weekend of running that celebrates health, wellbeing and Kirkcaldy’s outstanding green spaces. Set across the town’s parkland, the festival welcomes runners of all ages and abilities, with a varied programme including a Half Marathon, Relay Race, 10k and 5k trail races, alongside the much‑loved Kids Fun Run.

Accessibility and inclusion sit at the heart of the festival, particularly for younger participants. The Kids Fun Run operates on a pay‑as‑you‑please model, with a suggested donation of £3 per child. Families are free to give more or less — or nothing at all — depending on their circumstances, ensuring that no child is prevented from taking part due to cost.

Funds raised through voluntary donations and crowdfunding help cover essential delivery costs such as safety measures, event infrastructure, medals and equipment. Raising funds in this way also supports the long‑term financial sustainability of the Kids Fun Run, helping to ensure it can continue year after year without increasing entry costs for families while maintaining a high‑quality, well‑organised event.

By prioritising choice, affordability and sustainability, the Kids Fun Run provides a positive, inclusive first experience of organised running. It helps build confidence, encourages active lifestyles from a young age and creates a fun, welcoming environment where every child can feel proud to take part.
