We need to raise 75K to keep Wales' longest running indoor skatepark open for the next 10 years.
On the 26th June 2024 we'd raised £12,348 with 94 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We are Exist Skatepark.
Founded by Kate Leonard and Ric Cartwright in 2011, we are an indoor sports facility offering sessions to wheeled sports including skateboards, scooters, quads, inline skates and BMX. The skatepark has been operating as a Not for Profit since 2013 under CUSP Swansea.
We are a fully inclusive and diverse environment. We offer open sessions to all wheeled sports, coached beginner and intermediate sessions for skateboarding, girl only sessions, sessions for local community groups and hold funded free sessions as often as we can.
We are great at what we do and we want to keep doing it!
We need to raise £75k to secure the future of Exist Skatepark!
With the support of Swansea City Council through their Transforming Towns initiative, we have an opportunity to secure our lease paid for at a fixed rate for the next 10 years (worth 180 thousand pounds) but to access this funding we need to raise £75k to renovate the building.
Without this funding we cannot guarantee the skatepark will be here beyond 2027. We turn 13 this year and the skatepark is in desperate need of renovation.
Exist Skatepark has devised a plan for refurbishing and developing the building and facilities. This has been split into three phases and the £75k will allow us to complete phase 1 of the renovations.
Phase 1 consists of a new, glass fronted entrance, additional windows and a new layout to our skatepark to accommodate this.
The focus of the development is to create a welcoming space for visitors and allow for our services to grow and welcome more people.
Offer a safe and inclusive space for children and adults to learn how to skateboard and practice wheeled sports
Provide high quality facilities that allow participants to feel challenged whilst improving their confidence
Provide a welcoming space for both participants and spectators
Increase skateboarding opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged or minority groups
Be the go to hub for resources, information and guidance for the skateboarding community in Swansea
