Lambeth Tigers aims to build a strong foundation where opportunities for young local players can be nurtured in a structured, disciplined and caring environment.
Lambeth Tigers was originally formed in 1995. It was reformed by David Marriott and Jamahl Jarrett in 2010 and is a Saturday and Sunday youth football club providing opportunities for the local children to participate in organised sport. The ethos of the club is 100% commitment and hard work from both coaches and players to achieve the most out of each training session and every match.
We have now formed a partnership with Dulwich Cricket Club, who are seeking to a new ground to use in summer to grow their Women's and Girls' teams.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 has severely disrupted our efforts to provide consistent engagement through football for our participants and there are now many families and children who have been hit financially by this global pandemic. COVID-19 has also severely impacted our ability to fundraise, given the impact on our families and on potential sponsors.
The club on the most part is self-financing, the full membership fees cover basic equipment and administration while the match fees cover referees and home pitch hire. But the Tigers also has a generous scholarship programme so no child misses out from football because their family cannot afford to pay membership.
In order to maintain our commitment to being a fully inclusive football club we need the support of our community. Many children have been forced to spend much of the last year inside, without the chance of regular physical exercise, a safe space to be able to socialise with friends/coaches and most importantly being able to play the game we all know and love.
The impact of COVID-19 has made it extremely difficult for families and children to be a part of the Lambeth Tigers FC offer on a weekly basis.
Lambeth Tigers FC believe that children should have the right to play football and we need your support to help provide our offer to as many young people that with to play the beautiful game. This is where you come in...
Our children and Lambeth Tigers need you more than ever to make this a reality for those most in need at this time and to help our young people navigate the after effects of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdowns.
We have been working hard as a club to realise our dream of having our own "home" we are delighted to announce that we have managed to secure the opportunity to make the Griffin Sports Ground in Dulwich Village as our new home of football. In summer, it will be home to Dulwich Cricket Club's women and girls - the first cricket ground in the UK to give priority to female players.
Although securing the Griffin is huge achievement, we now have to raise a sufficient capital to enable us to sign a lease with our partners for this facility, obtain necessary equipment (like goals, storage containers, a maintenance tractor) and have the funds be operate the facility to deliver our weekly training sessions and matches that, until now, have been spread around the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. This will put into effect a business and feasibility plan put together with the support of Sport England and the Sporting Assets consultancy, and advice from the FA, Lambeth and Southwark councils among others.
Your donation will be administered by the Lambeth Tigers Foundation, our registered charity that supports the community objectives of Lambeth Tigers.
Inviting other sporting clubs to join us and operate the ground together, our mission is to make the Griffin a place to welcoming home to a generation of young sportsmen and sportswomen from South London who have been denied good facilities. A big feature of our plans will be to encourage and promote the sustained involvement of girls in sport. This will be accomplished by a full partnership at the ground with women and girls' football clubs, and use of the ground in the summer by our partner Dulwich Cricket Club's women and girls' teams.
Our minimum target is £20,000.
We know this is ambitious, but we hope that with your support we can get there. It is the absolute minimum we need to enable us to provide a beautiful new home and regular football for as many of our young players at the club and beyond.
Even if you can't donate, please share this page, every action or donation helps our cause!
