Our story
For the past 10 years, The Shoebox Enterprises CIC has been bringing people together across Norfolk.
Through our Hidden Street Tours and heritage experiences, we’ve helped thousands of people discover the stories beneath Norwich.
And through our community hubs in Norwich and Great Yarmouth, we’ve created spaces where people can connect, build confidence and feel part of something.
Whether it’s a coffee morning, a creative group or a simple chat, these spaces help people feel less alone and more connected to their community.
The opportunity
We now have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to buy our Castle Meadow building – the home of our Hidden Street Tour and our Norwich community hub.
Two years ago, our community came together to raise over £52,000 towards buying the building. That support has helped us get to this point – and now we just need one final push to get it over the line.
The building isn’t just bricks and mortar.
It sits above the remains of a remarkable medieval street, hidden beneath the city for centuries – a space we’ve brought back to life and shared with thousands of visitors.
By securing the building, we can:
- Protect this unique piece of Norwich’s history
- Create a permanent home for our community work
- Grow our impact for years to come
Why we need your help
We’re so close to making this happen.
After years of conversations, we’ve agreed a purchase and are in the final stages of securing a mortgage.
However, a recent valuation came in slightly lower than expected, meaning we now need to bridge the gap to complete the purchase and make essential improvements.
That’s why we’re aiming to raise £10,000 and mark our 10th anniversary!
This funding will help us:
