Aim

We have supported NHS staff with their mental health for nearly 6 years - but we urgently need your help to meet the rising demand.

This winter, NHS and frontline workers will once again face impossible conditions—overflowing emergency departments, patients waiting on trolleys in corridors, long, punishing shifts without a break—and impossible decisions; with constant exposure to human suffering.

Many carry this emotional toll home, silently. But no one should face these conditions alone.

We tragically lose one doctor to suicide every three weeks - and one nurse every single week.

We are Frontline19 (Company No.13038853) - a UK-registered not-for-profit (Community Interest Company) providing free, confidential counselling and psychological support to NHS and frontline workers.

Since 2020, we’ve supported over one million people and helped prevent at least 77 suicides.

Our sessions are run by qualified volunteer counsellors, so every donation goes directly into keeping the service running, reaching more staff, and managing it safely.

This year, the theme of World Mental Health Day is Access to Services – Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies, and it couldn’t be more relevant to our cause. For NHS and frontline staff, the (now imminent) winter months are a predictable emergency.

We know that caring for others in these conditions very often leads to burnout, anxiety, depression and moral distress. But when staff can talk to trained counsellors and process their experiences, they can recover emotionally and continue providing safe, compassionate care.

Supporting the mental health of our frontline workers means that the wider healthcare system becomes more resilient during crises – it’s a win-win for us all.

Why We Need Your Help Now

Frontline19 is under immense financial pressure. Demand for our services has surged, but our funding hasn’t kept pace. Without urgent support, we risk being unable to offer free counselling to those who need it most this winter.

Your donation today helps us keep this lifeline open and ready for every UK frontline worker in need.

Your Support Makes a Real, Tangible Difference

While our counselling sessions are volunteer-run, your donations fund the vital infrastructure that keeps Frontline19 running securely and effectively and provides:

  • Essential administration and scheduling of our volunteer sessions
  • Recruitment activities to reach more much-needed professional volunteers
  • Scaling up to meet rising demand
  • Outreach, so staff know help is available
  • Secure IT,  safeguarding, and confidential referral systems

Even a small donation ensures that staff facing impossible conditions have someone to talk to - someone who understands.
