Aim

To keep our youth club running while we secure long-term funding, so local young people don’t lose this vital weekly space.

Our Story

Stanhope Youth Club has been running since January 2023 and has quickly become a popular and well-attended weekly space for local young people aged 8–14.

The sessions are led by qualified youth workers and shaped with input from the young people themselves, making sure activities are fun, engaging and accessible to everyone. Alongside our regular sessions, we also organise outings and additional activities such as drama and forest school.

Our aim is to give young people in Weardale a place where they can be active, creative and social, while building confidence, friendships and a sense of pride in their community.

Stanhope is a rural area where opportunities for young people can be limited, and having a safe, welcoming place to meet each week makes a real difference to their wellbeing and connection to the community.

We are currently working to secure longer-term funding to support the youth club over the next few years. The money raised through this crowdfunder will act as a bridge fund, allowing us to keep the sessions running while we apply for larger grants and develop a sustainable future for the programme.

Your support will help us continue providing weekly youth club sessions, creative activities, and opportunities for local young people to learn new skills, build friendships and feel part of their community.

About Our Young People

The young people who attend Stanhope Youth Club help shape what we do. From choosing activities to suggesting trips and workshops, their ideas and energy drive the programme. For many of them, the youth club is one of the few regular opportunities in our rural area to meet friends, try new things and feel part of something positive.

Each week we see young people growing in confidence, supporting one another and discovering new skills — whether that’s through creative activities, outdoor adventures or simply having a safe space to spend time together.
