Grow Urban Festival returns as a city-wide platform connecting people, land, and practice.

Grow Urban Festival 2026

Regenerating Soils & Souls
📅 6–14 June 2026 | London | Great Big Green Week

Help us grow a different kind of city

Grow Urban Festival returns for its fifth year — not as an event, but as a living, city-wide movement.

For one week, London becomes a decentralised classroom.
Gardens open. Ideas circulate. Hands touch soil.
People remember something simple, but often forgotten:
we can grow food, community, and resilience — right where we are.

What began as a small gathering has become a network of growers, educators, institutions, and communities working together across London — from estates and schools to places like the Natural History Museum and Imperial College London.

Now, we’re ready to take the next step.

Why this matters now

Cities are under pressure.

Rising heat.
Water stress.
Food insecurity.
Disconnection — from land, from each other, from what sustains us.

And yet, across London, solutions already exist. Quietly. Locally. Powerfully.

People are already growing food, restoring soil, cooling streets, building community.

This festival exists to connect those dots.

What your support makes possible

From 6–14 June, over 50 events will take place across London — open, accessible, and rooted in real practice.

With your help, we will:

🌱 Deliver hands-on workshops (mushroom growing, no-dig systems, low-tech cultivation)
💧 Host talks on soil, water, and adapting to a changing climate
🌿 Open gardens, farms, and community spaces to the public
🏙 Create conversations on how cities can feed and sustain themselves
🌾 Connect urban and rural growers in meaningful exchange

This is not theory.
This is learning by doing.

2026 Theme: From Awareness to Action

This year’s focus is simple, but necessary:

How do we embed growing into everyday life?

Into our streets.
Our schools.
Our homes.
Our shared spaces.

We are focusing on:

– Practical growing skills anyone can learn
– Soil health and regeneration
– Water awareness and harvesting
– Cooling cities through planting and design
– Urban–rural collaboration
– Food growing as a pathway to wellbeing and agency

As Sal says:
“The question is no longer why this matters. It’s how we make it part of daily life.”

A growing network across London

This work is held by many hands.

The festival brings together collaborators including:
the National Trust, Kew Gardens, National Park City Foundation, The Conduit, and many more — alongside community gardens, schools, estates, and local initiatives across the city.

Where your money goes

This festival is built with care, collaboration — and very limited resources.

Your contribution helps us:

– Keep events free and accessible
– Support grassroots growers and educators
– Cover essential coordination and production costs
– Document and share the work so it can grow further
– Reach more people across London

We are not building something separate.
We are supporting what already exists — and helping it connect.

Beyond the festival

Grow Urban is not just a week in June.

It is part of a longer movement towards:
– local food resilience
– ecological education
– community-led growing
– deeper connection between urban and rural life

A different way of living in cities is already emerging.
This festival helps make it visible — and possible.
